If you have a spare room in your house, then the chances are it sometimes gets a little neglected. Whether it’s got an unused guest bed or it’s used as storage for things that don’t have a home elsewhere in the house, it probably isn’t as loved as the rest of the rooms in your house. There is nothing wrong with this, but if it is a little unloved then it may stand out against the rest of the house if you are looking to sell. We thought we would share some tips on how to make your spare room look great to help you with showcasing all of your property in the best way.
Have a Clear Out
Any room in your house will look more spacious if it is emptier. So if you have been using your spare room as a space to put all the stuff you aren’t sure where else to store, now is the time to have a clear out. The room doesn’t have to be empty, but making sure it is clutter-free and that everything is neat and tidy will definitely help to make sure it looks as good as possible in the photos.
Consider Giving It A Lick of Paint
If the room is looking a little tired then you may want to consider giving it a lick of paint. This doesn’t mean you have to full-on redecorate the whole room, but consider with a coat of magnolia or some white gloss on the paintwork would help brighten up the room and show it off better in photos and for any viewings you have.
How Can You Dress It Up?
You want the room to look as good as possible, so have a think on how you can dress it up. For example, does it have curtains and if not should you put some up? If you have a spare bed in the room, then choose some nice bedding and fluffy pillows to help make the room look cosy and inviting. Do you have a spare rug somewhere else that could fit well into the room? Does the light fitting have a lampshade?
They may seem like small touches, but you want the spare room to look and feel like part of the rest of the house - after all, lots of people will be wanting to use the room for a bedroom or even a home office and you want to make it as easy as possible for them to visualise this as the case.
