4 New Year’s Resolutions To Make At Home

Whether you’re moving home or not, there are some new year’s resolutions you can make to help your home be happier, tidier place to be. Perfect for if you decide to move home, but just as perfect if you just want a bit more organisation in your home.

Make The Bed and Take Out The Bins

I bet most of us have people in our family that like to play bin Jenga, resting rubbish on top of the obviously full bin carefully just so they don’t have to take it out. Make it a rule that the bin gets taken out as soon as the rubbish hits the top, it seems like a small change but it will make a big difference.
Also, treat yourself to bedtime with a nicely made bed. It’s easy to jump out of bed and get on with the day and mostly it doesn’t make a difference. However, coming to bed late at night to climb into a bed that is made and just waiting for you will be lovely.

De-Clutter

Most of us have stuff we don’t need. Promise yourself you’ll declutter a little something each month. Have a look at things you have that haven’t been used in ages, could you sell them to make some extra cash? Can they be donated to someone who could make use of them? You could even tackle your wardrobe one month – if you haven’t worn something in over a year, are you ever likely to wear it again? Give yourself some space by decluttering and getting rid of items you no longer need, want or like.

Do The Washing Up

No one wants to do the washing up after dinner and we’re all tempted to leave things until the morning. However, on the flip-side of this who wants to wake up in the morning and have a pile of washing up waiting for them while they make their morning coffee? Force yourself to do the washing up in the evening before you go to bed. Your day will start much happier without this chore to do first thing in the morning.

Get Everyone Involved

Of course, none of this is a solo activity and if you live with others get them involved too! Can you split up the washing up between everyone in the house or just encourage everyone to get on board with the decluttering? Whatever it is that you’re doing, get everyone involved and you’ll find things are done much quicker.
