National Lockdown – What Does This Mean For House Sales?

You have undoubtedly heard the latest Government announcement regarding the latest national lockdown. We know that these are strange times for everyone and wanted to send you some reassurance about what this means for estate agency and those that are looking to move home.

Government Guidance

Although non-essential services are closed, the government have recognised moving home as an essential service; which means that we’re able to stay open. Although everything should be carried out safely, with appropriate social distancing measures the advice is that home moves, valuations and viewings can continue to take place.
Viewings can continue in a safe manner – general advice being that everyone should wear face coverings & socially distance where possible. Before a viewing you should open windows where possible, open all internal doors and switch on all lights – this minimises the number of surfaces that any viewers have to touch. We’ll work with you to ensure that viewings are safe and if you have any questions about how all of this works, including how we can safely value your property please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Mark Hayward - Propertymark’s chief advisor - says: “We welcome the news that the housing market is to remain open throughout this new lockdown period, but it is essential that all agents continue to play their part in reducing the spread of the virus through following all relevant guidance on how to safely conduct viewings."

Here At Christopher Stokes

Currently, we understand that the lockdown is due to end Mid-February, where we’re hopeful that life can start to return to normal. However, throughout the lockdown period please be assured that we’re working hard to ensure your home moves can take place as normal. Our offices are open with staff working from both the office and their own home where possible. We’re happy to provide online videos of properties and even give you advice on the valuation of your own property virtually if required. Where viewing and valuation appointments do take place, we’re following all government guidelines to ensure the seller, buyer and our colleagues stay as safe as possible.

If you do have any questions about moving home during this national lockdown period, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We know these are uncertain times and are happy to help advise you as much as possible. Stay Safe.
