3 Things Everyone From Cheshunt Should Know

We’ve said it before, we’ve said it again and we’re bound to say it again – we love Cheshunt! We think everyone should live here, although then it would become really overcrowded and that would put us right off, but you know what we mean! Here are some things that we consider essential for everyone who lives in Cheshunt to know.

The Things To See

We’ve spoken before about the number of things to see and do here – there really is something for everyone. But if you’re looking for something a bit different, you could visit the World War 2 bunker that still exists here, or come and have a nosey at the gold post box, painted in honour of Laura Trott. Right outside our office Old Pond fountain is worth a look, it’s lovely. However, it’s located right in the middle of a roundabout on one of the main roads in the area so we wouldn’t recommend crossing the traffic to get onto it.

How To Say It

It is incredible the number of people who pronounce Cheshunt incorrectly. You’ll find that if you speak to anyone who has lived here long-term, it will be something that really grinds their gears! There are a mixture of ways people choose to say it – “Chest-hunt” is one that we don’t like at all – where did the extra ‘t’ come into play from?. Then you get the people who want to make the place name longer “Cheesehunt”, absolutely not. Stick to saying it properly – “Chez-Unt” and you won’t go far wrong!

The Famous Links

We’re not saying that we rub shoulders with the rich and famous every day, but there are some fantastic ties to well-known people here in Cheshunt. In fact, Waltham Cross just a few minutes away was the childhood home of Elizabeth 1st. Some more recent famous faces have called Cheshunt home including Cliff Richard, Billy-Saunders and Victoria Beckham.
