What Do The Restrictions Being Lifted Mean For House Viewings?

There is no denying that the last 12 months have been a tricky one for all industries and the housing market is no exception. Although we have been allowed to continue to work throughout many of the recent lockdown periods, we were unable to in the initial one, which of course did affect the housing market somewhat. However, we now have news of a stamp duty extension, more positive mortgage options for first-time buyers & a road-map for the UK to hopefully leave Coronavirus behind, so what does all this mean for house viewings and home moves?

More Confidence in Viewing Houses

With the ease of restrictions and dates for things like non-essential shops to re-open, people are going to start feeling more confident in getting out and about. Facemasks and hand-sanitiser are pretty much the norm, so we’re all used to this new way of working. Our sales team attend every viewing so are happy to promote social distancing and Covid-19 safe viewings, which is giving people much more confidence in visiting houses in order to consider putting in an offer.

People Are Ready for a Fresh Start

With a roadmap out of restrictions and news that pubs will soon be able to open, people are ready to start looking towards the future. Lots of peoples work situations have changed for the better (i.e. more remote-working) which is allowing people to consider a fresh start and where this might be. As people consider what a fresh start looks like, lots of that will be about where they live – relocating or perhaps buying their first home and this will also encourage people out and about to take part in viewings.

Shielding Has Come To An End

Shielding has come to an end for a majority and lots of adults up and down the country have now been given at least 1 dose of the vaccine. This is another positive step towards normality and something else that will encourage people out of their homes to return to more normal activities, such as house viewings.

We’ve noticed a trend in more people coming to view properties, the better weather and lighter evenings will help with this too. If you’re considering putting your home in the market, now is a great time to do so and we’d love to have a chat about how we can make that happen for you.
